General membership meetings are normally held seven times a year on the third Monday of February, April, June, September, October and December at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, 2368 Eggert Road, near the corner of Eggert Road and Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda, NY (behind Advance Auto Parts) at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 for rag chewing and informal discussion, a brief business meeting begins at 7:00, with the program of the evening following. A few times each year the regular meetings are replaced by special activities. These include the Mobile Clinic each July at the Boston repeater site, February WinterSwap and tours of local businesses or other locations of interest.

Monday, September 21, 2026 — General membership meeting at the church. Nominations for board positions will be taken and approval of the voting membership list (published in the September newsletter).
Monday, October 19, 2026 — Annual meeting of BARRA, Inc. for the purpose of electing board members and hearing year-end reports. After the business meeting we will have a presentation from Wayne Smith, WB2ONZ, who will give a one hour presentation on Civil Air Patrol (CAP) radio communications. Wayne’s presentation will include:
* The history of the Civil Air Patrol, Auxiliary of the US Air Force (dating back to WWII).
* Current missions including emergency services, homeland security, aerospace education and the Cadet Program.
* CAP’s nationwide communications program and capabilities to support government agencies and local communities.
* An overview of the HF, VHF, RoIP and secure mesh comms equipment used by air crews, ground teams and at CAP bases.
* A look at the latest HF and VHF voice and data communications equipment used by air crews, ground teams and at CAP bases.
* Communicator jobs, technical ratings and specialized training provided by CAP.
There are more than 50,000 volunteer CAP members nationwide, and many CAP communicators are also hams. Their experience and passion for communications helps ensure the success of CAP search and rescue, photo reconnaissance and disaster relief missions as well as many other activities.
Monday, December 21, 2026 — Annual BARRA holiday party. Join us for pizza and wings and some holiday fellowship.
Monday, February 15, 2027 — Annual BARRA WinterSwap indoor hamfest meet. Chase away the cabin fever blues with an evening of deals and eyeball QSOs. Anyone is welcome to buy or sell.
Technical Committee
BARRA’s Technical Committee is comprised of members who work with and on our repeater equipment and facilities in which our equipment is housed. The Tech Committee meets the first Thursday of every month (with the exception of summer, holidays or school closures that fall on meeting days) in the conference room (just inside the main door) of the BOCES Potter Road Career and Technical Center, 705 Potter Road, West Seneca, NY at the corner of Slade, Potter and Orchard Park Roads. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and usually conclude with adjournment to a local restaurant for munchies and informal discussion. All BARRA members of all technical abilities are welcome to join the Technical Committee at any time.
Tech Net
The BARRA Tech Net meets every Wednesday at 1900 Eastern. The BARRA Tech Net has its own web site with weekly net topics and other resources at barra-tech.com
SPECIAL NOTE: Summer meetings (July & August) of the Technical Committee are held at the Cole Road repeater site, not the school, weather permitting.
